HISTORIC CITY TOUR 06/09/2017 |
During the walk we will be able to take in the architecture and relics of our city. We will come across plazas, historical sights and interesting passageways that transport us to the past. We will visit the Monastery of San Jerónimo, which houses the tomb of the Gran Capitán, Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba. Its architecture is renaissance in part, in transition to baroque. We will continue the walk through Plaza Bib-Rambla, which we will cross to get to the Cathedral, one of the key buildings in Spanish architecture. It lies over the great Nasrid Mosque of Granada, and is considered the first renaissance church in Spain. We will continue our walk to the Royal Chapel, where the remains of Fernando de Aragón and Isabel de Castilla lie. This will be followed by a visit to the La Madraza palace, the old Arabic university of Yusuf I, and we will arrive at the Alcaicería (former Muslim silk market). The walk will end at the Corral del Carbón, and we will finish by enjoying an aperitif outside one of the city centre’s many bars.

UNIVERSITY BUILDING VISIT 06/09/2017 |
The Rectory building is the official office of the Rector and his governing team. It is located in the Hospital Real, a historic building in the city of Granada designed by order of the Catholic Monarchs in 1504. It was originally used as a hospital and later as a prison, and it is now the central headquarters of the University of Granada for the Rector's Office and other University departments. Its main façade presents four elaborately decorated plateresque windows, which bear the initials and emblems of the founders and the Emperor. The different interior chambers are covered with great coffered ceilings in different styles, Mudéjar being the most common.

FAREWELL PARTY PALACE OF THE CORDOVAS - 07/09/2017 |
The Palace of the Cordovas is at the end of the Paseo de los Tristes, by the Darro river and at the bottom of the Cuesta del Chapiz, in what was the Spanish-Muslim neighbourhood of Rabad al Bayda. It is a renaissance building surrounded by beautiful gardens and orchards. Its inside atrium was made with gothic elements and the ceilings are coffered in the Mudéjar style. Built between 1530 and 1592 in the Placeta de las Descalzas, it was transferred in 1960 to the Cuesta del Chapiz, its current location. The City Council acquired it in 1983, and it houses the Municipal Archive, with its rooms and gardens used for celebrations and official ceremonies.
